Magma, lauded as ‘hot and dangerous’ (SFClassical Voice), ‘wildly ambitious’ (SFChronicle), and a ‘modern day masterpiece’ (SF Arts) premiered January 2025 at The Midway, a multi-room nightclub in SF. The evening length work features 9 dancers of Post:ballet, live music by dj.ari.b, choreography and text by Moscelyne ParkeHarrison, and projections by Shana ParkeHarrison.

The piece cycles between installation, immersive dance theater, and proscenium style performance. Inspired by the myth of Cassandra, Magma peels back the layers of truth to reveal a gripping social commentary on humanity’s desire to understand and control the world around us.

Magma is the result of a two year creative process. The has been shared in numerous preview performances and workshops. Post:ballet closed in February 2025 after 16 Seasons of creating boundary breaking work in the Bay Area. Magma is BODYSONNET’s newest piece of repertoire.
